3 In a Row

1. Get up @ 6:00a
2. Exercise
3. Meditate

A little ragged (didn't meditate until bed time last night), but just completed 3rd day in a row.  Near term goal...7 in a row.

Notes: Stopped running @  ~7 minutes, 2 laps.  A little stiff in shins, but didn't get above target heart rate until after 1st full lap.  Was hitting max in less than 1/2 lap. May just be lower pace, we'll see. Did 15 assisted push ups (on McDougal rock). Am tired, so meditation was sleepy.  Repeat later after nap?

Back on Track "Literally"

I have been in a real slump emotionally. Mostly fear around money.  Yesterday and today I went to the MacDougal track and ran/walked a mile with my heart monitor.  I run until I get just out of my zone (140bpm) then walk until I am under 120.  I finished the mile in 14:44 yesterday.  It felt much faster today, but when I finished it was 14:43, wow.

So the plan is....wake @ 6:00a, run, meditate...get on with my day.  2 days in a row, let's go for 7 in a row.

5.0 Self-Discovery then Reversal of Fortune

In a Ted Talk Mike Rowe (of Dirty Jobs) explains his personal experience of anagorisis and peripeteia; for Mike is was the realization that biting a sheep's balls off was a superior method of castration to the PETA sanctioned rubber bands. This Aristotelian device in Greek tragedy is one of self discovery and then reversal of fortune. It has really struck a chord with me. While I have found it nearly impossible to keep the terms in my working vocabulary, I want this desperately to manifest in my life.

It will be/is a reverse tragedy....it has been a tragedy, now I've seen the error of my ways and have reversed course.  The anagorisis is the recognition that I have been so negative and willing to blame the world for all of my troubles, preventing me from a  healthy response. The peripeteia will be/is my new positive direction in all things....

each frustration will become a blessing (an opportunity to let go of anger and feel loved);
each negative judgement will become an exercise in compassion;
each fear will become an exercise in faith;
each shirking will become a call to action;
each avoidance will become a foundation of integrity;
each outburst will become a smile.

Blessing, compassion, faith, action, integrity...smile.

Anagorisis (Greek): in Aristotelian tragedy is the moment in a play or other work when a character makes a critical discovery. Especially when followed by peripeteia.

Peripeteia (Greek): is a reversal of circumstances, or turning point. The term is primarily used with reference to works of literature. The English form of peripeteia is peripety.

In The Eddy + Tattoo Idea

Eddy: The swirling of a fluid and the reverse current created when the fluid flows past an obstacle.

So not quite "in the flow" but aware I have been stuck and paddling back in to the flow.

Current focus is diet & exercise....I will be fit.  My max weight was 220lbs...using that as reference point for losing 68.5 lbs (found stone weight). Trying to lose 1/3 lb per day, until BP pills need refill (about 90 days).  For last 3 days have been on track.  Gone from 217 to under 215. No exercise yet.

Set "trigger" for meditating....Walk dogs...coffee yes/no....meditate.
Need to create trigger for exercise.

Idea for Tattoo...possibly with Buddha on tank
